Trinitas’ Behavioral Health Department is one of the largest and most respected psychiatric programs in New Jersey. The department conducts several hundred thousand patient visits each year. Our specialized services span the full continuum of care and feature a multidisciplinary, culturally competent bi-lingual staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, art therapists, substance abuse counselors and mental health workers. Patients move along the continuum as appropriate, and are often treated by more than one service simultaneously. Due to the strength of our youth services, our department plays a major role in the initiatives mandated by the State Department of Child Behavioral Health. The department accepts referrals from the entire state, though most patients in our programs are from Union and Essex counties, with a significant percentage from Newark and Elizabeth.
