Job Description

As a Clinician Certified Screener, you will:

  • Screen adults and children experiencing psychiatric emergencies for appropriate level of psychiatric care utilizing the least restrictive alternative whenever possible.
  • Provide emergency assessment and crisis intervention for children, adults and families.
  • Assess patients for voluntary hospitalization and involuntary commitment / complete state screening documents, as legally required for adults or coordinate completion of commitment papers for children.
  • Arrange or provide crisis stabilization services or alternative treatment when hospitalization can be prevented.

Job Requirements

Certfication eligible as a screener by the State of New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Hospitals. MSW with specialization in mental health or MA in mental health disciplines with one year of fulltime post masters experience in a mental health setting required. Previous experience in a crisis setting preferred. Effective 6/1/14 must have a clean drivers license as determined by the employer and which is validated by the state MVA in which the employee resides.
