EKG technicians work with doctors and technologists and specialize in electrocardiogram (EKG) testing for patients. EKG’s are done by attaching wires and electrodes to a patient's chest, arms and legs. EKG technicians monitor the readings, make sure the machine is attached properly and in working order, and records the results of the EKG tests. Responsible for editing and forwarding final test outcomes to EKG management system for attending physician to analyze and interpret data. EKG techs keep equipment in good working order and checks the quality of recorded data Performing assessments on patients of various conditions and ages, considering the physical and physiological needs of every patient. Developing and maintaining positive interpersonal relations with other department personnel.
High School diploma or equivalent; Certification of completion of EKG training course preferred; Medical Terminology. Previous EKG and Holter experience preferred.
