As a Medical assistant in one of our physician practices, you will work alongside our physicians and other team members assisting with both administrative and clinical duties.
Duties include ; • Managing patient appointments – Schedule/reschedule/cancel • Call patients to confirm appointments and procedures • Greet patients upon arrival and check them in using EMR system • Scan all documents/reports and index into the patient’s chart • Create/obtain referrals as needed • Pull charts for upcoming appointments • Confirm eligibility for patient benefits • Collect all co-pays and any past due balance on account • Obtain insurance authorizations for specialist appointments • Mail consultation and procedure reports to referring doctors • Insurance verification • Process chart release requests • Maintain archived patient charts • Take patient vital signs (weight, height, BP, current meds, and history) and record in EMR • Perform EKGs • Phlebotomy duties – Venipuncture and processing • Give injections per doctor’s orders • Perform PFT's • Clean/prepare exam rooms for patients • Manage prescription refills and prior authorizations for medications not covered by insurance • Assist with maintenance of pharmaceutical samples
High School or equivalent certifications program. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communication in English sufficiently to perform duties of the position. Completion of an accredited program in medical assisting or its equivalent. Current CPR certification. Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient or doctors office setting preferred.
