The 5-Diamond Patient Safety Program was developed as an innovative training and recognition program to assist dialysis providers in increasing awareness and building a culture of safety among patients.
The Nurse Manager of our out patient Hemodialysis Unit is responsible and accountable to the Vice President, Special Operations for the overall operation of the unit. Directs the professional and ancillary staff and oversees the daily operations. Ensures the implementation of policies, programs and services that are evidence-based and consistent with professional standards and values. Accountable for measurement, assessment and improvement in nurse-sensitive patient and organizational outcomes, as well as the support of a professional nursing practice environment in which nurses are empowered to provide efficient, effective, safe, compassionate quality care. Is accountable to ensure the competence of registered nurses and their ongoing professional growth and development.
Collaborates in the organization wide healthcare delivery system and process design. Works collaboratively with physicians, and other department heads to assure compliance with professional and regulatory standards of care and practice.
Communication with external contacts involves providing service to resolve serious complaints, maintain key relationships, make significant adjustments, handle high profile meetings or deal with similar sensitive relations. Is accountable for employee selection/termination, performance reviews, salary decisions, and managing budgeted expenses.
Current New Jersey Professional Nurse License; Graduate of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program; ANNA Certificate preferred. Ability to perform all competencies is required for employment in the position. 2 years dialysis clinical experience required, 2 years in a management position preferred or demonstrated leadership role, or previous charge nurse or management experience in hemodialysis unit preferred. At least four (4) years of clinical experience in nursing. Evidence of professional, leadership, and organizational skills needed to manage a nursing unit which operates efficiently and which delivers quality patient care within the framework of the nursing process.
