The Telemetry Unit is a 38-bed unit. This team-oriented unit provides a wide variety of Medical/Surgical and diagnostic services to a diverse cardiac population (i.e., congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, respiratory compromise and dysrhythmias ) The skills learned here set the groundwork for advancement to critical care.
The Telemetry Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The technician delivers telemetry to intermediate units and performs monitor hook-up/discharge, patient preparation, and teaching related to the monitor.
Completion of related technical education course, on the job training or completion of Fundamentals in Nursing course. Ability to perform all competencies is required for employment in this position. One year of experience as telemetry technician.
